The website at www.disabilitycornwall.org.uk hosts information about the organisations projects and services, including the Disability information and advice line (DIAL), where site users can submit their enquiries online, and the successful lifestyle magazine Discover which can be downloaded.
The site also hosts „My Place‟ a ground-breaking, interactive project that will, in time, map out the whole county, profiling accessible places, venues, walks, beaches, venues and restaurants that will be reviewed and rated by the site members.
Jane Johnson, Chief Executive said “My Place is based on a very simple idea, that it is the people who use facilities that are best placed to rate them. For example; wheelchair users know which places are physically accessible and people with learning difficulties know where they feel welcome and safe. My Place will have benefits not just for disabled people themselves but for families with older relatives or young children in pushchairs too.”
Disability Cornwall is calling for disabled people and carers, to register with My Place and start recording and rating places around Cornwall or even further-a-field if they wish.
