South West Acute Hospital Review

Event location: Somerset County Cricket Club, Taunton TA1 1J

Date: 26th Jan 2011

Event time: 09:30 to 15:30

NHS South West, in partnership with local commissioners, recently facilitated a peer review of acute hospitals ability to meet the needs of people with a learning disability.

NHS South West has initiated positive action with progress being made to improve the patient experience and reduce the level of health inequalities experienced by people with a learning disability and their families.

The peer review process has established a clear baseline of existing performance and has identified examples of best practice across the whole of NHS South West.

The peer review process has been a collaborative approach alongside people with learning disabilities, carers, clinicians, advocates and commissioners.

At the event delegates will:

  • hear the results of the review and evidence of good practice from the South West reviews
  • have a clear sense of how this fits in with national developments
  • have a clear idea of how this can be progressed within the region and locally and what part people will play in this

Everyone will have the opportunity to browse through easy read information and explore good practice from the South West region. The people who have developed this will be on hand to explain how they can best be used.
